Santa Martha Foundation offers numerous workshops to equip our children with the skills needed to support themselves after leaving our care.

Our workshops include:

    Bakery.- Our children bake bread daily, producing sufficient quantities to provide morning rolls for everyone in the Home. They learn to make croissants, bread buns, pita bread, hamburger bread, as well as pastries for special occasions.
    Cake Making.- In the past, we were able to offer a cake making workshop for adolescents ages 13-18. This program is no longer provided due to insufficient funds. Please contact use if you are interested in funding this project.
    Sewing.- Adolescents ages 13-18 may participate in this program and learn skills such as sewing and embroidery. Our children have made uniforms, t-shirts, skirts, and blouses.
    Farming.- Adolescents ages 13-18 may participate in this program where they learn skills such as: sowing seeds, fertilizing, weeding, and harvesting. Children also receive lessons in planting
    Animal breeding.- Adolescents ages 13-18 may participate in this program where they learn to breed animal such as: goats, pigs, and cows. They learn proper cleaning techniques, how to mix feeding products, and receive classroom instruction in animal breeding and commercial food production.
    Computer: - Children of all ages may participate in this workshop which teaches basic computer skills and word processing.

Workshops involve the following activities:

  • Cooking.- Preparing meals (daily menu) – Organizing and cleaning up the kitchen.
  • Laundry.- Adolescents guides and pre-adolescents, directed by tutors from each pavilion wash all clothes.
  • Maintenance.- This is done on a rotary basis and all of the children in the home take part in keeping the Home clean
