Tuberculosis: We have been trained to recognize the symptoms of tuberculosis
and upon detection take all children to the local health clinic for treatment.
Dental: Most children come to us without having ever received professional
dental care or having been taught proper dental hygiene. Once in our care,
children learn how to care for their teeth and are screened for:
Acute Respiratory Infections and Acute Diarrhea: We have been trained
to recognize these conditions and upon detection, children are immediately
taken to the local health clinic.
Drug Use: We actively encourage our children to avoid engaging in drug
use and regularly give lectures on the effects of such use as well as how
not to succumb to peer pressure.
Parasites: We are able to test for parasites with the support of outside
organizations and universities.
Fluoridation.- Successfully carried out
to include 100% of the Home's population.
Ophthalmology: We provide ophthalmic care to all children in need. Approximately
21% of our children require eyeglasses.
Child Development: We have partnered with the local health clinic to ensure
that all children receive annual physical exams.
